It has been an extremely busy few weeks filled with lots of excitement! I hope that everyone has a restful and fun filled holiday season. See you all in 2020!
Good Morning!
I have not updated this in a little while, so I wanted to send a quick update on what we are working on in class.
Good Morning!
Great work on the presentations! I have really enjoyed learning about new things that are of interest to our classmates. Looking forward to hearing the rest tomorrow.
Our novel study was sent home with the grade 5 yesterday. They received a black duotang with four accompanying sheets. This will be their novel study duotang and we will add to it as we make our way through this book together. For the first week they were asked
This may seem like a lot to complete, however the first chapter only has five pages of writing.
As the long weekend is coming up I will give them until Wednesday to complete this first chapter of work. As chapter two is very short I will given the questions to the students when they return their duotangs on wednesday but will ask for this back on Friday.
Hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving weekend - I am feeling thankful for this wonderful class of hardworking students!

Wow, can you believe September is over already? It has been a busy but wonderful start to the school year! This week we are switching things up a bit.
We will NOT be having a verb quiz this Friday. As some students are still having trouble speaking french in front of their peers, this week they have been asked to prepare a mini presentation on a subject that interests them. This could be an animal, activity, place, or a person. They have been asked to have enough material to speak for AT LEAST 45 seconds (the goal is one minute). I have told them that they can have cue cards, and can show a title page on a Google Slide if they wish to show a picture of some sort. I am looking to see that they have practiced and prepared their presentation, and are speaking with fluency and confidence! I will be asking the students to share the topic that they have chosen with me on Wednesday. Presentations will begin next week - looking forward to hearing about ce qui vous intéresse!
Coming up this week:
We had a busy and productive week of school and the verb practice is paying off! I was very impressed to see that most students had spent time last week learning their être and avoir verbs. This week we are going to continue to work on learning when to use être and when to use avoir in a sentence. The students are also going to be introduce to the three groups of verbs and how to conjugate them in the present tense. We are going to start with the first group, which is verbs that end in "er", and will have a quiz on Friday. In science we are beginning to look at Properties of and Changes in Matter. I will post some practice verb work on the Hapara this evening. If students would like to wait till tomorrow evening to start looking at it that is totally fine. We just briefly started to look at it today but will be spending more time on it tomorrow. Students are encouraged to be reading in french for at least 15 mins every evening. Reading comprehension questions will begin next week.

Hello everyone! We had a wonderful first week of school! I really enjoyed meeting all of you and getting started on the learning that is going to take place this year. This year I will be teaching the grade five class french, science and art. Mr. Monette will be teaching social studies, gym and health. They will go to the classroom next door, Mrs. Cooper, for English, math and religion. If you did not get a chance to fill out the student information sheet located on the homepage please do so below. As an added reminder, we are having our school open house this Tuesday evening from 5:00pm-6:30pm - hope you can make it!
