Meet Our Staff!
Writers, Layout Team, and Podcast Team:
Madison Craske:
Madison is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is Music, and is a Hello Pius! writer. Madison loves researching different topics for her articles, and a highlight for Madison has been being able to contribute to her friend's articles by adding quotes, images or conducting research.
Vanessa Matias:
Vanessa is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is Geography, and is a Hello Pius! writer Vanessa loves writing articles and likes making various media for the newspaper, such as her interesting word searches. A highlight for Vanessa has been when her article was published in the "Featured Stories" section of the newspaper.
Maria Ray:
Maria Ray is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is Art, and is a Hello Pius! writer. Maria has enjoyed working with the staff of Hello Pius! thus far, and a highlight for her has been working on articles and getting feedback from the editors to improve her writing.
Tilly Pilarski:
Maria Ray is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is English s Art, and is a Hello Pius! writer. Tilly has enjoyed expanding my knowledge of writing, and getting new feedback from the editors. Tilly's favourite part of the Hello Pius! experience is when the articles are released every month, and she gets to read what all of the other writers have done. She also mentions that "It is also really cool to get to see [her] own article on the site!"
David Truong:
David Truong is a grade 11 student, whose favourite subject is Music and is a Hello Pius! writer. David has enjoyed learning about journalism, and has enjoyed using his platform to spread the voices of his fellow club and committee members, so all can be heard. David enjoys using his writing to spotlight the diversity at Pius, which others might not know about. A highlight for David was getting to interview the members of the R&B band at the Terry Fox Run, and getting to play with them for the Halloween ATC Dance.
Adam. S:
Adam is a grade 11 student, whose favourite subject is Accounting and is a Hello Pius! writer. Adam has enjoyed being able to write without being graded, and a highlight for Adam has been Expressing my point of view with words freely while also being able to enjoy writing as a whole.
Dana Alawawdeh:
Dana is a grade 11 student, whose favourite part of the school day is Lunch, and is a Hello Pius! writer, Layout Team member, and Podcast Team member. Dana has enjoyed meeting creative students who have a passion for writing. She has also really enjoyed feeling connected to the Pius community by interviewing students, and reading about student life in the paper. A highlight for Dana has been interviewing some of the staff and getting to know them.
Claire Macinnis:
Claire is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is art, and is a Hello Pius! Layout Team member. Claire has enjoyed meeting creative students who have a passion for writing. Claire has enjoyed being a part of Hello Pius and loves seeing the final product come together.
Saeda:
Saeda is a grade 9 student, whose favourite subject is Math, and is a Hello Pius! Podcast Team member. Saeda has enjoyed meeting creative students who have a passion for writing. Saeda has also enjoyed acting like a press, and her highlight has been working on a Terry Fox project.
Editors:
Josh Neubauer:
Josh is a grade 11 student, whose favourite subject is Psychology, and is a Hello Pius! editor and writer. Josh has enjoyed challenging himself to better writer, documenting so many events that I love, and getting to work with so many talented people! A highlight for Josh was writing the Leadership Camp article, as I got to talk to a lot of great students about their experiences and I loved going, so I was glad to have the privilege to write an article about it!
Maeve Ludmer:
Maeve is a grade 11 student, whose favourite subject is Photography and is a Hello Pius! editor and writer. Maeve has enjoyed I have enjoyed reading all of the writers' work, seeing the amazing things they produce, and helping the writers improve their writing skills. A highlight for Maeve from Hello Pius! was having the first article she edited published, as well as having her first article published.
Chief and Editor:
Chiara Frangione:
Chiara is a grade 11 student, whose favourite subject is Canadian Law and is the Hello Pius! Chief and Editor. Chiara has enjoyed developing the newspaper, and working with many other talented, creative students to promote student voice. A highlight for Chiara has been connecting with various clubs and committees, to showcase the rich diversity present at Pius. Chiara is very proud of the Hello Pius! staff for their hard work, and all of the support from the readers, and can't wait to start a new year filled with more writing and fun!
