About the Health and Wellness SHSM
The Health and Wellness SHSM is a program offered to High School Students attending All Saints Catholic High School where Students can receive specialized training and certifications in the medical field. Students will have the opportunity to participate in various events and activities related to the health and wellness, and gain hands-on experience. If all requirements are met, upon graduation students will receive a Health and Wellness SHSM Certificate.
Program Requirements
The requirements for the Health and Wellness SHSM are as follows:
Coop: You must complete a Coop placement before graduation. Make sure it fits in your schedule by June of grade 12. If you are planning on doing your Coop this year then check with your guidance counsellor for options.
CLA: You must complete certain high school courses (Contextualized Learning Activities) on your pathway before graduation. There are a variety of options. See the document on “Pathways” here. Most of these courses you would be taking anyway like SBI3U and HRE3O. You will need 4 courses from the required list from grade 11 and 12 as well as one from the “Other” list.

Certifications and training. There are 4 required certifications: WHMIS, Infection Control, First Aid and CPR. There are also 3 optional certifications for a total of 7. Certifications are provided through the TPJ Health and Wellness course OR you will be invited to attend certification days. Certifications being offered are: Applied Behavioral Analysis, Leadership, Service Excellence, Physiotherapy and taping, Infection Control, First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Stress Management, Group Dynamics, and many others.
SPC/ICE training is required. Our training will be Numeracy in Health Care in particular looking at this Pandemic and Epidemiology as well as dosages and measurement.
