Participants will gain knowledge, skills, and practical strategies to address and mitigate the generational impact of substance misuse. The workshop will focus on understanding the unique patterns of substance misuse across different generations, examining the profound effects on individuals, families, and society, and exploring effective intervention and prevention strategies tailored to each generation. Time will be provided at the end of the workshop to explore a case study and to answer participant questions 

This workshop is intended for anyone working with individuals who have had or continue to have a family member struggling with substance misuse.  It is also intended for those who work with adults with substance misuse issues.

How can we use community organizations as partners to develop educational/informative programming? In this session, participants will gain insight into the process of Red House Arts Center’s collaboration with Onondaga County in developing preventative programming for youth with hands-on assistance in planning for potential partnerships for their own organizations/programs. Participants will learn about the process of bringing ‘Levi’s Relic’ from idea to reality and from page to stage, have an opportunity to identify arts and cultural organizations in their surrounding communities, and begin brainstorming (with the assistance of presenters) on partnership ideas they could launch in the future.

A Supplemental Educational Workbook developed for children to reinforce themes of 'Levi's Relic' will be provided.

Participants who attend this training will gain a basic understanding of suicide and warning signs, learn the roles that everyone can have in preventing suicide, identify tips to help someone in a suicide crisis, and gain a better understanding of community resources that support mental health and suicide intervention.

This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive view of the drug landscape. It will include trends in substance use among youth specifically around alcohol, cannabis, synthetic marijuana, and other substances that have yet to be regulated by many states such as delta 8 and liquid kratom.

This is an immersive workshop for school-based clinicians (including school counselors, social workers, and school psychologists) designed to introduce practical tools and techniques to support children and adolescents in developing resilience and preventing substance use. Drawing upon the power of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), this workshop delves into the core principles and practices of this research-based approach.

The workshop begins by introducing participants to the concept of nervous system regulation and its importance in substance use prevention. Attendees will explore the factors contributing to vulnerability to substance use and learn how EFT can help enhance resilience in individuals at risk. By understanding the underlying emotional triggers and stressors, attendees will gain insights into the connection between emotional well-being and substance use.

Participants will engage in interactive exercises to deepen their understanding of EFT and its application within substance use prevention. They will learn three EFT tapping techniques for emotional regulation to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and challenging emotions effectively.

Are you ready to infuse creativity into your work? Join this training and learn strategies for integrating innovation into your practice. Participants will learn strategies to help them think more creatively about their work and ways to engage communities. A  set of questions will be introduced that will help spur novel conversations within agencies and teams. Expanding the realm of what is possible will lead to more impactful, innovative work that captures the hearts and minds of the individuals being served. This workshop will include a Canva presentation and will be hands-on and engaging, encouraging participants to explore one activity they currently do and ways to innovate.

This workshop is for individuals who may feel they need to increase their knowledge to gain a better understanding of the LGBTQ community. Participants will learn and understand vocabulary, terms, and the use of language as they relate to the LGBTQ community. There will be a discussion about the health disparities that are often faced by members of the LGBTQ community and how those disparities can be mitigated. Through the use of lecture, activities, and reflection, participants will leave the workshop with ideas and best practices for creating welcoming environments for all.
