Hello! My name is Jessica Bland and I am extremely excited to be a part of the Oakland-Craig Public School District.

I received my Bachelor's Degree from Midland University in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. It wasn't long after finishing my Bachelor's Degree that I decided I wanted to further my education. I attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney where I received my Master's Degree in Administration.

Before coming to Oakland-Craig, my professional career has been spent in the Cedar Bluffs Public School District where I spent a year as Guidance Counselor and 2 years as a Curriculum and Assessment Director for students in grades PK-12. Prior to that, I spent four years teaching Kindergarten, also at Cedar Bluffs Public Schools. My past experiences have shaped my core beliefs and philosophy of education. For me, schools should be an integral part of the community they inhabit. They should also be focused on high expectations for all students which can be achieved through developmentally appropriate and best teaching practices. Finally, I believe that creating citizens who are a positive influence on their community and have a drive to continuously learn is a mission that any school should envision and strive towards for their students.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband Theo and I have two wild boys, Brooks (3) and Benson (1). Together, we enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, and playing all types of sports.

I look forward to getting to know all of you throughout my involvement in the school and the community!
