We are proud to announce that Oceanside UFSD has reimagined its Arboretum. The Oceanside Arboretum was started in the 1980's and has been a staple in the district ever since then. In the past it's primary use was for relaxing strolls and gardening, but now we have now added experiments for students to conduct outside. We have created an Outdoor Research Center in the Arboretum that we have named the ORCA. Here students in grades K-6 will be able to take class trips and complete specifically designed lessons in the ORCA. On the following pages teachers can find links to register for trips and the plans for the lessons that your classes can complete. The ORCA is an open air covered space meaning there is a roof but no sides to the building so dress accordingly. Upon arrival all supplies for your specific lesson will be out of the storage shed and setup for your lesson to be completed but your lesson will be run by the classroom teacher. We also have a weather station setup and linked on this page, so you can check the most up to date conditions in the ORCA.
