About & FAQ

Hi! I'm Ms. Tess Duignan

I am the Library Media Specialist at School #2 and School #4. I have a Bachelor's degree in English-Adolescent Education (7-12) from SUNY Geneseo. I also have a Master's degree in Library & Information Science (School Library Media Specialist) from Long Island University. The 2026-2027 school year marks my fourth year as a school librarian and my fourth year here in Oceanside.

I love being a librarian. My favorite part of the job is getting to help children connect with literature that they love. Joyful learning is the heart of my teaching philosophy.

My passion for books stems from my childhood. I am a second-generation educator. My mother taught first grade for many years and I was raised on her amazing taste in books. She read to me and my twin brother every night up to middle school - parents, I encourage you to do the same! It truly fostered a love of reading that led me to where I am today.

When I'm not in the library, I enjoy running, bedazzling, yoga, playing volleyball, and reading.

Looking forward to more book-filled adventures with you/your child,

Ms. Duignan
