Scholarship/Prize Opportunity:
The total prize amount will be divided as follows: $2,000 for first place, $1,000 for second place, and $500 for third place.
Eligibility: In order to be eligible to receive the non-renewable first year admission scholarship, the winners must be accepted and enrolled in a program at the Faculty of Science of the University of Ottawa.

Description:
The competition will be composed of three sections, each containing a different discipline (Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Students will be asked to complete two of the three sections. Each one contains 20 questions, totalling 40 multiple-choice questions for two sections.
Each student has a total of 60 minutes (1 hour) to complete the competition. The questions are prepared by students enrolled in the Faculty of Science, and are reviewed by members of the Faculty of Science at the University of Ottawa.

CHEMISTRY
A) Chem 13 News Exam Contest (Waterloo) - Link
Exam date = Thursday, May 7th, 2026
Fee = $8.00/student
The Chem 13 News Exam Contest is designed for Grade 12 high school chemistry students in their second high school chemistry course. Topics include organic chemistry, equilibria, kinetics, oxidation-reduction, bonding, structure, reactions, solutions, gases, and some probing questions beyond standard high school content.
B) Avogadro Exam Contest (Waterloo) - Link
Exam date = Thursday, May 14th, 2026
Fee = $8.00/student
The Avogadro Exam Contest is designed for Grade 11 high school students in their first high school chemistry course. Topics include the structure of matter, bonding, reactions, solutions, and gases. The test consists of a few probing and demanding questions on some of the main topics of high school chemistry.
C) Physics & Astronomy "Sir Isaac Newton (SIN) Exam" (Waterloo) - Link
Exam date = May 1st, 2026
Fee = $4.00/student
The Sir Isaac Newton (SIN) Exam is a test of high school physics and is offered by the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Waterloo to encourage the teaching of physics. The test, although challenging, is meant to be refreshing and fun. Political and other topical humour have marked SIN exams for years. Students participate from across Canada, the USA and abroad.

PHYSICS
CAP High School Physics Prize Exam - Link

Format = There will be a multiple-choice section (25 questions) and three long-answer problems.
The CAP High School Exam is based upon an internationally recognized syllabus, the I.B. Physics Higher Core Curriculum. The CAP Exam examines mainly sections of the syllabus covering mechanics, Optics and Electricity and Magnetism.
