A) Breaking Through Discussion Panel: How to deliver quality health information in a time of health misinformation. A discussion with 3 public health researchers from the University of Ottawa School of Public Health. Topics will include mental health, substance use and addiction, healthy eating and human development. Teachers will get an overview of the best information to be sharing, resources to access to get the best information and community partners that can enrich our teaching.

B) Warm-Up Games: Quick, fun games/activities to engage students while preparing them for physical activity in PE or PFit classes. This session will provide teachers with simple activities that will not only prepare students for activity, but will also get students engaged and excited about participation. These games can be used as a great way for students to demonstrate participation, leadership, safe practices and some of the fundamental skills and strategies central to the PE curriculum. C) Indoor Rowing: Ottawa Rowing Club presents an introduction to their Youth Rowing Initiative for PE teachers. Coaches from the Ottawa Rowing Club will introduce the rowing machine (erg) including parts of the erg, erg setup, parts of the stroke and which muscle groups are being worked, proper posture, etc. giving teachers the skills needed to assess and evaluate the skill of rowing. Teachers will also learn about community programs that students can access to further their engagement in physical activity beyond the classroom. D) Fitness: Technique and teaching tips for body weight movements (squat, lunge, push up) This session will provide teachers with tools to modify movements in order to ensure all students are able to participate. You will get tips on how to assess and evaluate movement competencies and see how you can help students develop a plan for progressing their skills. The workshop will also include an overview of how to develop safe, engaging workouts using bodyweight resistance. Sean Thibodeau (Fitness Room)
E) Flag Football: Flag football basics (skills/techniques) and adaptations for PE classes. This workshop will cover the basic elements of the sport of flag football. Teachers will gain insights on how to adapt the sport to different skill levels of learners and how to modify the game so it can be used in different environments (both indoors and outdoors).
