Welcome Grade 9's!
This course will be your first introduction to high school level math. Here is a brief summary of the units we will be covering.
Numeracy (mostly a review of Grade 8)
Polynomials (grouping, adding and subtracting terms)
Equations (rearranging equations to solve for an unknown variable)
Relations (introduce graphing and relating measures such as distance and time)
Linear Relations (variations and connections between independent and dependent variables)
Linear Equations (investigating lines)
Plane Geometry (triangles and quadrilaterals)
Geometry and Measurement (surface area and volume)
Optimization (maximizing surface area and volume)
The Course Outline will detail the rules of the class and department, breakdown of marks, course expectations and other useful information.
