There are many science contests available for students to participate in. If you are interested in participating in a contest, please speak to your science teacher. The fees for each contest vary.
Chemistry
Avogadro Contest, University of Waterloo
This contest is for students who are currently enrolled in grade 11 chemistry or have just completed grade 11 chemistry. This contest is written AFTER SCHOOL on Thursday May 14, 2026.
Please register with your chemistry teacher BEFORE Tuesday March 31.
The cost of the exam is $4.50 and is non-refundable.

Chem 13 News Contest, University of Waterloo
This contest is for students who are currently enrolled in grade 12 chemistry or have just completed grade 12 chemistry. This contest is written AFTER SCHOOL on Thursday May 7, 2026.
Please register with your chemistry teacher BEFORE Tuesday March 31.
The cost of the exam is $4.50 and is non-refundable.

Physics
OAPT Physics Contest
Students that are currently in grade 11 physics or who have completed grade 11 physics may write this contest.
This year's contest will be written on Wednesday May 20, 2026.
Sir Isaac Newton Physics Contest, University of Waterloo
This contest is for students who are currently enrolled in grade 12 physics or have just completed grade 12 physics. Registration for this contest must be completed BEFORE Tuesday March 31.
This year's contest will be held on Friday May 1, 2026 and the cost of the contest is $4.50.
Biology
University of Toronto National Biology Contest
This contest is for students who are currently enrolled in grade 12 biology or have just completed grade 12 biology. Registration for this contest must be completed before BEFORE Tuesday March 24 and the contest date will be on Wednesday April 8 at 10:00 AM.
The cost of the contest is $7.50

National Biology Contest Past Exams
Biology, Chemistry AND Physics
University of Ottawa UEducate Contest
Students will complete TWO of THREE sections of their choosing (choices between biology, chemistry and physics). The top scorers in this contest are offered admission scholarships to University of Ottawa Science Programs.
The contest date for 2026 will be on Tuesday May 5.
Students in grade 11 and 12 may write this contest, however the content in based on the grade 12 science courses.
Interested students should speak to their science teacher to register. Registration ends on Monday April 13.
