You may not have had a dedicated space in elementary school, so get to know some of the unique features of a Drama Room!
Extracurricular school plays at JMSS also use the stage, located in our Cafeteria on the 2nd floor.
Teams guided their blindfolded teammates through the obstacles. The team had to call out instructions using stage directions: upstage, downstage, left and right -- that is, the actor's (blindfolded person's) left and right!
After a short workshop on fight choreography safety, practicing falling, and a learning few combat moves (advance, retreat, lunge, high, low, revers, bas...) students choreographed and presented mock fights with foam swords.
After learning about cardboard construction tools, techniques & tips, students practiced. They needed to use scissors, glue sticks, highlighters, and a glue gun to create a prop with patterns that glow under blacklight.
The goal was to get confident with technqiues they can use to create props and accessories for a sci-fi- society performance project.
