Open to Gr. 11 students who have completed or are currently taking Gr. 11 Chemistry (SCH3U). It is held every May by the University of Waterloo and was $4/entry in 2024. It consists of 40 multiple choice questions to be completed over a 75-minute period online. The 2025 contest will be held on Thur. May 15th, 2025. Registration will occur starting mid-February.
Open to Gr. 12 students who have completed or are currently taking Gr. 12 Chemistry (SCH4U). It is held every May by the University of Waterloo was $4/entry in 2024. Open to any student taking high school Senior Physics and is designed to be challenging, "refreshing and fun" and is FREE. It is hosted by the University of Waterloo and is held every May. It is a two-hour exam to be completed online. Deadline for 2024 exam has passed. The 2025 contest will be held on Thur. May 1st, 2025. Registration will open in mid-March and close on April 24th, 2025.
Open to any student taking Gr. 11 or Gr. 12 Physics to test their knowledge and understanding of a variety of Physics topics and is FREE. It is held usually in the Spring by the University of Toronto. It consists of 30 multiple choice questions to be completed over a 60-minute period online. The 2025 contest will be held on Wed. May 14th, 2025. See Mrs. Comeau about registering for this contest!
Open to any Gr. 11 or Gr. 12 students. Students will be given a health-related case that is relevant to the Canadian population. Registration for 2024-2025 is $30/registration. Students can elect to participate alone or in teams of 2 or 3. Registration is open between Oct. 1-31st and Round 1 (written submission round) occurs between Nov. 1-Dec. 10. More dates are on OSIC website. It is the student's responsibility to register themselves if interested.
Open to any student taking high school Biology (grade 11/12) to test their knowledge and understanding of Biology. It is organized by the University of Toronto and costs $7/student (but a minimum of 3 students from Hillcrest must register in order for interested students to participate). It consists of 50 multiple choice questions to be completed over a 75-minute period online. The competition will take place on Wed. Apr. 16th, 2025. Registration will occur between Feb. 3rd and Apr. 14th, 2025.
Open to any high school student taking Chemistry (and has a strong interest in this field). This contest is aimed at the top 10% of Canadian high school students under the age of 20. The contest consists of three parts, all of which must be completed. The CCC contest will take place on Wed. April 23rd, 2025 at school or online.
uEducate is a student-run organization at uOttawa and the 2025 General Science Competition will challenge students in 2 of 3 fields: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each section consists of multiple choice questions and students choose which two sections to complete. The three highest-scoring participants are offered a one-time entrance scholarship to the Faculty of Science at uOttawa. The 2025 contest will be held on Tue. May 6th, 2025.
