Below, you will find information on the Semester 2 Final Evaluation Schedule. These days provide an excellent opportunity for students to consolidate their learning and work towards improving their achievement. Wednesday, June 19 to Tuesday, June 25, 2024, are Final Evaluation Days. Final Evaluations may include Culminating Tasks, Exams and Student Success Opportunities. June 25 is an additional exam day that may be used if an exam date is cancelled due to extraordinary circumstances. Expectations for students will vary by course and grade level.
Students will follow a regular classroom schedule and are expected to attend school on these days. No new assignments or tasks will be assigned. During these two days, students will conference with their teacher using their evidence record and will review plans and expectations for Final Evaluations. Students will be working on review, remediation, and preparation for final evaluation tasks.
June 21 is National Indigenous People's Day. Indigenous students who will be away on June 21 should make advance arrangements with their teachers regarding the final evaluation period.
We understand that Eid al-Adha will take place around June 17. Students who plan to be absent to celebrate Eid should make advance arrangements with their teachers regarding evidence records and plans for the final evaluation period.
Additionally, students will:
Return Chromebooks that belong to the school (Chromebooks will be remote-locked by our IT administrator on June 26)
Return textbooks that they have borrowed from the school.
Return any borrowed school instruments, or uniforms.
Clean their lockers.
All students will have access to 150 supervised minutes with their teacher, in alignment with the Final Evaluation Schedule. Students in Grades 9 & 10 will not write a traditional exam.
Students are expected to be in class for their final evaluation beginning at 9:05 am on the day of their final evaluation. Attendance will be taken.
The final evaluation task may be an interview, or performance task
Parents are asked to call the attendance line 613-823-0367 to email jmss.attendance@ocdsb.ca if their child will not be attending.
Students are expected to sign out and make their way home immediately upon completion of their final evaluation task.
All students will have access to 150 supervised minutes with their teacher, in alignment with the Final Evaluation Schedule. Grade 11 and 12 courses have final exams or other final evaluations scheduled during the Final Evaluation Period.
Students are expected to be in class for their final evaluation beginning at 9:05 on the day of their final evaluation. Attendance will be taken.
Parents are asked to call the attendance line 613-823-0367 to email jmss.attendance@ocdsb.ca if their child will not be attending.
Students are expected to sign out and make their way home immediately upon completion of their final evaluation task.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to talk with their children about their progress and achievement and their commitments during the Student Success/ Exam Days period.
Students are expected to attend final evaluation tasks scheduled in the exam period. Parents are asked to call the attendance line 613-823-0367 to email jmss.attendance@ocdsb.ca if their child will not be attending due to illness.
Students will be expected to sign out and make their way home immediately upon completion of their final evaluation task. Parents should make transportation arrangements.
Parents are encouraged to reach out to the classroom teacher if they have questions, or require clarification regarding the plan for Student Success / Exam Days.
Students who have a spare period or eLearning period are expected to remain at home on the corresponding day of the Final Evaluation Schedule.
