NCEA CAA Literacy & Numeracy Assessments – 2025
As part of recent NCEA changes, all students must now pass 10 literacy credits (5 reading, 5 writing) and 10 numeracy credits to achieve any level of NCEA. These can be gained through the new Common Assessment Activities (CAAs) or by achieving certain literacy or numeracy-rich standards.
This year, selected Year 10 students will sit the literacy assessments in May, with the remainder scheduled for September. All Year 10 students will have their first opportunity to attempt the numeracy assessment in September, depending on readiness.
Year 11–13 students who still need to meet the literacy and numeracy requirements will also be entered into these assessments.
