About

This program is guided by the belief that collecting and showcasing student stories and objects is crucial to understanding the moment in which we are living.

In “Objects of Value,” Oberlin students will have the chance to share their experiences since March 2020 in a communal reflection around the question: “What has happened to us since we last met?"

Developed by eight Audience Engagement interns at the AMAM, "Objects of Value" turns the museum into a platform for sharing student-submitted object stories that will be knit together from video, audio, photo, and written submissions. In early October, a communal screening of these stories will transform the static and imposing museum space into a dynamic one that reframes the AMAM as a place of connection during a time of isolation. The stories will be archived by the AMAM, interjecting student stories into those of the institution.

You can find details on submission formats, including examples, and the form to submit your own object on this page.
