Behind the scenes of Urinetown, Fall 2020
Hi! I'm Alex. I graduated in May 2021 with a degree in Theater. I began stage managing at Oberlin the fall of the my first year with no idea what I was doing. Since then I have worked in all of the Theater (and Dance) spaces on many MainStage and LabSeries productions. Outside of stage managing, I have worked as the office assistant, a student rep, in the Hall paint shop, and all over Warner as a monitor and prop TA. My time at Oberlin has given me many opportunities to learn and grow as a stage manager and as a person. I hope to pass on what I've learned and help guide new stage managers through the process.
Hailing from Seattle, I grew up in nature. When I'm not inside working on a show, you can find me outside hiking, backpacking, swimming, rafting, and enjoying the outdoors. When I can’t be outside, I love sci-fi TV shows and a good queer book.
Endless love to Cass for her compassion and dedication and everyone else who helped create this website.
Hi! I'm Cass! I'm a stage manager with a double major in theater and creative writing. I began my work at Oberlin as an ASM on Cabaret in 2018, where I met Alex, who quickly became a close friend and mentor. By the time I graduate in 2022, I will have worked as a stage manager on four department mainstage productions and completed a capstone as the LabSeries Production Manager.
Though I spend plenty of time in the theater, stage managing, working in the E-Shop, and taking classes, I also have a busy life outside. A true Oregonian, I am an avid hiker, backpacker, and Portland Thorns supporter, but after a long day of rehearsal, I most love to go home to my dogs and a good book.
I love Oberlin and the community we have here, and I hope that this site provides the guidance and support that stage managers need when they are just starting out. You might be thrown into the deep end, but we've tried to build a sturdy life support.
Love love love and gratitude to Alex for all the hours in the booth and the time working on this site.
