Ways to get connected with the Oberlin Annual Fund
Class ambassadors (or agents) are the volunteer fundraising team that gives a personal peer-to-peer touch to the work of the Annual Fund. They play a crucial role in helping Oberlin remain fiscally strong and in maintaining the extraordinary resources that make an Oberlin education so unique. Class ambassadors work with staff members in the Oberlin Annual Fund and Alumni Association to encourage alumni giving every year, and to increase giving participation among the general alumni body.
Purpose: Class Ambassadors are a group of alumni volunteers who use their time and talents to strengthen the relationship between Oberlin and its alumni, and to increase annual giving participation among all alumni groups. In order to reach these goals, class agents personally reach out to a pre-selected list of classmates each year to ask for help in supporting Oberlin’s highest priorities through a gift to the Annual Fund.
Responsibilities: Class ambassadors are asked to contact at least 10 members of their class each fiscal year—once in the fall, and once in the spring—to ask them to participate in giving to the Annual Fund. They may use e-mail, phone calls, handwritten notes, and/or face-to-face conversations when contacting classmates. Class ambassadors also are encouraged to keep in touch with Annual Fund staff members in order to track the fundraising progress of their class. All class ambassadors are expected to make an annual contribution to the Oberlin Annual Fund, and to come to campus at least once during each reunion cycle (during the official September gathering of all agents planning a reunion the following May, as set up by the Alumni Office).
The Annual Fund uses GiveCampus as a tool for volunteers to reach out to classmates during fundraising and engagement efforts. The GiveCampus Volunteer Management System (VMS) is an easy-to-use portal that allows Obies to connect with classmates and contains helpful resources to craft peer-to-peer messaging.
1. Use this link to get to the Oberlin GiveCampus volunteer portal:
https://www.givecampus.com/schools/OberlinCollege/login
2. Attempt to login with the email address you use for messages to and from Oberlin, along with the password you created if you activated your account previously.
If you have not activated the account that we set up for you (using your email as the id), you will receive an email from GiveCampus to confirm your account. Check your spam folder if an email does not come through immediately! Confirming your account then allows you to log in.
3. After logging in you should be able to see all of your contacts and start using the tools, like reviewing giving history, sending email messages, etc. If you have not yet selected classmate contacts, you can do so now by viewing the pre-loaded list of classmates.
4. If you have problems or questions, please give the Annual Fund a call. We can help troubleshoot or generate contact sheets for you if they are needed.
