The 4D Liberal Arts Initiative launched with two week-long workshops in Summer 2019. The first week-long workshop was held at LCCC and Oberlin College from May 16 - May 22, 2019. Workshops included lectures and hands-on activities on themes including virtual reality, mobile forensics, hybrid media, and digital fabrication, and included time in the Lorain County Community Fab Lab, LCCC’s Mobile Forensics Lab, Oberlin’s LetterPress Studio, Oberlin’s Center for Convergence, (StudiOC) and Oberlin’s Technology in Music and Related Arts studios. In addition to guided hands-on projects at the Lorain County Community College Fab Lab, the Oberlin College Letterpress Studios, and the Oberlin College Technology in Music and Related Arts Studios, LCCC faculty Gregory Little and Hikmat Chedid presented their research:

The second week-long workshop was held from August 12 - 16, 2019, at LCCC and at Oberlin College. Topics addressed in these workshops were designed to assist faculty in the development of their own project plans. Materials shared included guidelines about project and exhibit development including information about logistics, suggestions for potential modes of collaboration, and project planning templates.
