"The Barren Beach"

by Mila Yurter

Feet in the sand

Book on my left

Not a care in the world

The rhythm of the waves

crashing against the sand and rocks

The scarcity of trees along this barren beach

I find a place to lay my head

The dread of the following morning is hidden in the back of my mind

I lay waiting for the perfect moment to capture

Saving it in my memory forever

I get tired of waiting

My legs fly in the air

I leap into the water

I shiver as my feet hit the cold

I feel refreshed

I run to my belongings

Clutching a towel

I lay down

Sand in my shoes

I feel refreshed

"Dogs"

by Erik Ravn

Dogs, our faithful friends so true,

With wagging tails and tongues of blue,

They greet us with a joyful bark,

And never once do they embark,

On a journey without us by their side,

Through the fields and countryside,

Their love is pure and never-ending,

Our hearts they keep unyielding and mending,

With wet noses, soft fur, and big eyes,

They are always there to comfort and advise,

Through thick and thin, they're by our side,

Our furry companions, always to confide.

With them, we'll laugh and we'll cry,

They'll be there until the end, never say die,

With a wag of their tail, they'll show they care,

And be our loyal companion, always there.

So here's to the dogs, our dear friends,

For whom our love never ends.
