"The Swan"
by Emma Kim
I stare outwards towards the swan
At night under the moon
I dare to reach out and touch the bird
To hear its fateful tune
A starlight’s midnight sparkle
Upon the still grey lake
To be locked inside a self-closed cage
My catcher’s heart aches
I dream at night of catching the swan
Of my hands grasping its neck
But unlike others I cannot seem
To escape my dreams and regret
"Still Waters"
by Emma Kim
We take subtle steps into my shallow creek
And feel the cool water wrap around our legs
Bashful ripples bounce around where we stepped
We catch little fish and in fear they cry and beg
We only dip our feet in
In fear of wetting our clothes
I tell you that I’m happy to be with you
Something you already know
You make fun of me though
You tell me
“That’s so cheesy”
But I see your smile grow
And like the sparkling rocky creek we’re in
I feel my sadness flow
When we evolve to swim about
In the ocean’s endless sea
What if we find ourselves separated
Will you remember me?
Sitting on your rooftop
As the sun sets at last
I wonder if in 50 years
Will this be in the past?
I’ll sing sad songs as you sleep
And I don’t know how you did
I sing so much that you don’t care
Since you’re so cold in the wind
Though the hefty breeze blows my hair
And all the blankets are on you
The sound you make when you sing along
Makes me feel more warmth than you
And though you don’t care about words
And your nostalgia flies away
Like still waters our friendship lies
And I hope it’ll stay that way
"Love"
by Emma Kim
Person to person
Place to place
What do we all want?
Perfection?
Eternity?
Our ideals paint together in a picture
If our painting solidified
And we could stand upon it
It becomes our world
And what do we seek?
What do we have?
Our small and fragile hearts
And all the good
And bad
We seek
And have
Freeze and break
Dissolve and fade
And when we let that go
In front of us
Lies what?
Eternity
Perfection
A single body
Has a single heart
A single heart
Has countless loves
Each love a person shares
Gathers
Each one hoping for “eternity”
If we bury our bodies
If we bury our hearts
What’s left of us?
Love
The world becomes perfect
With love
Our small and fragile hearts
Full of good and bad
As if small waves were trapped inside
They fall
Crash
Break
Foam
And restart
Melt and fall apart
And when we let the water
Pour out
Then and only then
Can we find our eternity
"Quiet"
by Rosabella Memon
Calm, quiet, peaceful,
a whisper in the wind,
a slight smile on someone’s face,
a car driving past,
faint breaths,
a warm hug,
a far-away bird singing their song,
a muffled argument,
the world is quiet here
"Fall"
by Sivan Dias
Earth's ground is covered with sunsets
Leaves hanging by a thread
Silence besides the rustle of people walking
Air crisp and sharp
Winds whispering
Branches bare
Leaves dancing through the winds
Picking fruit off trees
Picking the best pumpkin from the patch
Pumpkins sitting on the porches of town
Evening’s coldness starts to creep
Nights lit by the path of fire-lit pumpkins
Moonlight hitting the lake
The feeling of comfort
The feeling of warmth
The cozy feeling of family
"Eternal Whispers of Love"
by Nausheen Khan
In whispers soft, where hearts align
Two souls entwined, a bond so divine
Through laughter shared and tears that flow
In every glance our love will grow
In the garden where dreams take flight
We share our hopes in the soft moonlight
With every heartbeat, a promise made
In the tapestry, my love won't fade
Together we rise, together we stand
With every sunrise comes a brand new chance
In the dance of life we found our romance
"Tender is the Night"
by Bergely Jean Michel
Tender is the night with a broken heart and
The heart is truly sad when it loves desperately,
but must leave this company, because loving is no longer enough.
Under the starry vault
Or whispers the breeze
A heart in distress finally finds its relief
The incessant tears, sweet and soothing
Lull the pain of a broken love
Tender is the night,
silk wrap
Who hides sorrows
Erases the fears
Memories float
Ephemere et legers
Like wandering souls
In search of peace
The complicit moon gently illuminates
Their tortuous path full of obstacles
Every star becomes a hope
Promise of a sunrise after dark
Lost dreams find refuge,
The silence whispers words of comfort
To the broken heart that slowly melts.
Tender is the night, promise of renewal
When the bruised heart prepares to heal
Under the full moon
Hope is always reborn
Because even broken love never
does not turn off.
"Oui, Je Regrette"
by Bergely Jean Michel
"Yes, I Regret It"
by Bergely Jean Michel
Every day I carry on my shoulders
The regrets of the past that my pride left behind
The heavy weight of my conscience
I hear whispers through my head
They haunt me at night in the bedroom
Even the efforts of the present cannot repair
These youthful mistakes that haunt me in old age
So many words to say
A 3-minute honest discussion to reassure me
Unspoken words
The trust of loved ones that I have broken
These friends I have betrayed
I had to feign oblivion and ignorance
If only I could fix everything
Go back and prevent evil
Unfortunately the damage is already done
The past already written in my story
I would so much like someone to be able to read my heart
I would so much like us to know the truth
Alas, what to do?
When you are alone in a world
Or everyone plays the victim
