SWOAME, ISOMA, and the BTC27 Canada team have partnered to bring Peter Liljedahl and the Building Thinking Classrooms team for an immersive professional development event. Participants will engage in targeted strands covering subject-specific pedagogy, SEL, assessments, and equity frameworks like CHRP and Universal Design for Learning to support Special Education and ELL students. With a focus on integrating AI and technology responsibly, fostering instructional leadership, and developing strong community partnerships, BTC27 Canada hopes to equip educators with the practical tools, mindsets, and strategies needed to transform learning for every student.

The conference is designed for K–12 educators and education leaders from independent and public schools from Ontario and Quebec, including:

• Classroom educators 

• Instructional coaches, consultants, and teacher leaders

• School administrators

• District and system leaders

• Curriculum and assessment leaders

• Teacher educators and other education professionals

Participants may be at any stage of their Building Thinking Classrooms journey, from those beginning to explore the framework to experienced practitioners seeking to deepen, refine, or extend their practice.

Professional learning will be organized around discipline-specific and cross-curricular strands, including:

• Building Content and Pedagogy - Addressing specific subject sessions

• Building Assessment - Developing diagnostic, SEL, navigation assessments

• Building Equity - Keeping CHRP as a foundational requirement; Meeting the needs of special education, ELL students through UDL 

• Building Technology - Incorporating responsible use of tech and AI

• Building Teams - Fostering coaching and leadership, cultivating communities with parents and educational organizations
