Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin 8

Dear Parents & Carers,
I trust that you had a restful break and that your children have settled back into Module Two with ease. Speaking personally, not only did the break allowed me time to relax, unwind and make precious memories with my family, it allowed me to reflect upon the many successes of Module One. I know that together, we will continue to build on these successes and deliver the best education for our pupils and families.
As we begin this new Module, we will be sharing with you our class learning overviews, these will be released to parents at the beginning of each Module so you have greater awareness of what out pupils will be learning in classes. Having an understanding of what learning will be covered allows you to have conversations about your child's learning with them gives you the opportunity to share in that.
As you will be aware from recent communication, we are having a 'gunging' event for Children in Need. The buckets for 'voting' will be on the playground from Monday through to Thursday, the staff member with the most money in their bucket will be 'gunged' in front of the pupils on Friday 15th November.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say that as the weather is now becoming colder, please send your child into the academy with a suitable coat, hat, gloves and scarf. As always, ensure these are named so they can find their way back to the rightful owner should they become lost.
Mr L Coulson
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the academy to keep the bikes and scooters neatly stored in the shed in the morning. We also ask that bikes and scooters are not ridden on the academy site until pupils are out of the gate. This is to ensure that no one gets hit or bumped into as the exit gate can become quite congested at the end of the day.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overiew and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
This is a polite reminder to all parents and carers who drive to our academy. We appreciate that parking around the academy is limited an it can be difficult to find a space. However, please do not park; on double yellow lines, on the junctions, over dropped kerbs or the yellow zig-zag markings near our gates. Parking in the areas mentioned previously creates dangerous crossing conditions for pedestrians, our pupils and their families.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
