Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin
20th September 2024
20th September 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
As we come to the end of the third week back of this academic year, we are already seeing many positives across our academy, from embedded routines to new learning and confidence growing. A real highlight for me is the celebration assembly on a Friday. I really enjoy hearing the triumphs and personal successes that our pupils have had across the week. Taking the time to step back and reflect upon the week brings everything into perspective and makes working in a school an enriching experience. I was fortunate enough to be invited into Year 5 this week by a group of pupils to read some of their 'balanced arguments'. I have been particularly impressed with their well thought out and constructed reasoning for the benefits and limitations to different types of 'economic activity'. Some examples of this writing have been included in this bulletin so you, as our parent community, can also share in the fantastic work that Year 5 have created.
Please take the time to read through the information below and we thank you for your ongoing support in our requests.
As always, have a fantastic weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr L Coulson
When pupils choose the sandwich/roll option from the academy menu, they will be encouraged to select as much salad from from the 'salad bar' as they wish. This is to ensure they are having a substantial amount of food at lunchtime. We kindly ask parents and carers to support us by discussing this with your child/ren and giving them the opportunity to try as many different salad options as possible.
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the academy to keep the bikes and scooters neatly stored in the shed in the morning. We also ask that bikes and scooters are not ridden on the academy site until pupils are out of the gate. This is to ensure that no one gets hit or bumped into as the exit gate can become quite congested at the end of the day.
Thank you to families who have already submitted videos to Mr Syred for his Languages video. We would encourage as many of you as possible to contribute to make the project as much of a success as possible.
We understand there may have been some difficulty with the MCaS app in allowing payments to added for swimming. We are working to resolve this for you.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
This is a polite reminder to all parents and carers who drive to our academy. We appreciate that parking around the academy is limited an it can be difficult to find a space. However, please do not park; on double yellow lines, on the junctions, over dropped kerbs or the yellow zig-zag markings near our gates. Parking in the areas mentioned previously creates dangerous crossing conditions for pedestrians, our pupils and their families.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
