Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin

11th October 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
When I have been visiting classrooms this week, I have been extremely impressed with the passion and confidence of pupils who have wanted me to read their work. Year one were really excited to show me their writing about Buckingham Palace where they were thinking of wonderful adjectives to use to describe the building. I have received a letter from Robins this week asking me to consider purchasing some more recycling bins for the academy. They had noticed the need for more after learning conversations that had been happening in the classroom. Whilst working in my office on Wednesday, I heard some wonderful music and singing coming from Year Six, I decided to go down and see what was happening and I was incredibly impressed to see all pupils playing the Ukulele and singing, this was a pleasure to see and I am already looking forward to the final performance.
Next week, we have Year Five heading out to Thorpe Park on Tuesday 15th October. They will be departing the academy at 8am so please please make sure your child arrives at 07:45am so they are able to register and board the coach on time.
Please take the time to read my communication regarding our Parent Code of Conduct, I have been saddened to hear of negative conversations happening both on-site and via social media platforms such as WhatsApp.
The ending of this week has certainly been much colder than than what it has been of late, with that in mind, it is now probably time to make sure pupils have their coats in the academy with them. As usual, please ensure these items of clothing are clearly named.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mr L Coulson
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting the academy to keep the bikes and scooters neatly stored in the shed in the morning. We also ask that bikes and scooters are not ridden on the academy site until pupils are out of the gate. This is to ensure that no one gets hit or bumped into as the exit gate can become quite congested at the end of the day.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overiew and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
This is a polite reminder to all parents and carers who drive to our academy. We appreciate that parking around the academy is limited an it can be difficult to find a space. However, please do not park; on double yellow lines, on the junctions, over dropped kerbs or the yellow zig-zag markings near our gates. Parking in the areas mentioned previously creates dangerous crossing conditions for pedestrians, our pupils and their families.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
