At Leigh Academy Oaks, we often use the word 'Action'.
Action is where pupils put what they have learned into action.
Taking action can be something small, like turning off the lights, or not running the tap for too long. It can also be bigger in scale, like pupils deciding what charities they would like to fundraise for, setting up their own club, litter picking in the neighbourhood or joining the Pupil Employment Scheme.
Action can be lead by adults at school, where ideas are shared with pupils, but action can also be pupil-led.
We love when action is pupil-led. This means that learning has inspired someone so much, that they want to do something with it, make a change, or even just share their new knowledge with someone else.
Pupils take action by creating links with our link school in Sele, Malawi. We share learning together.
We share what is the same and what is different in our schools and lives.
Pupils also use the Sustainable Development Goals with each of their inquiries to support how they may take action.
Pupils take Action by participating in our Pupil Employment Scheme.
