Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin 13

13th December 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
I am filled with immense pride and joy, reflecting on the outstanding performances delivered by our pupils this week.
Our youngest learners in Nursery and Year R delighted us with their production of Whoopsie Daisy Angel. Watching them confidently deliver their lines and sing their hearts out was nothing short of magical. Their hard work and enthusiasm shone brightly on stage, setting the bar high for all that followed.
Year 1 and Year 2 brought together the traditional Christmas story through a beautiful blend of songs and performance poetry that celebrated other festive aspects. Their creativity, poise, and energy reminded us of the diverse ways we can cherish this special time of year.
Year 3 and Year 4 took their performance to the next level by incorporating musical instruments into their performance about the best Christmas song ever. Their enthusiasm was evident and it was a real joy to watch.
I am eagerly looking forward to next week when our Year 5 and Year 6 students will take to the stage for their performance. Moments like these set the tone for what it means to work in an academy during the festive season—a time of celebration, collaboration, and community spirit.
What has stood out to me most across all these performances is the courage and determination of every child. It takes a lot to step out of one’s comfort zone and perform in front of a large audience, but our pupils rose to the occasion with grace and enthusiasm. As principal, I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.
Thank you to all the staff, families, and friends who have supported our pupils on this journey. Your encouragement and support make all the difference.
The rest of festive season has lots left to offer here at Oaks; namely, our Christingle service, Christmas Jumper day, Christmas Dinner and our Christmas Disco. Speaking personally, I am looking forward to Christmas Jumper day the most!
Lastly, on the final day of the module, we will be finishing at 13:30.
If this earlier finish presents any childcare challenges for families, please contact the school office.
Our Nursery provision will remain open until 15:15 should you wish to still access the provision.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.
Best Wishes
Mr L Coulson
On Christmas Jumper Day - 18th December - pupils are invited to wear their own clothes to school, with their Christmas jumpers. We know that many children will be attending the discos after school, and this will mean additional disco clothes will not need to be sent in with your child.
Please keep a eye on our Key Dates document as this will contain important information about celebrations or events that are happening in the academy.
As the weather begins to turn colder and wetter, please remember to send your child into the academy wearing a coat. As always, it is really important that all clothing items are named so if they become misplaced, they can be returned to the correct owner.
We encourage parents and carers to visit our curriculum pages on our academy website so they have a greater overview and understanding of the curriculum objectives for each year group. Most celebrations and theme days will naturally be covered through the inclusive curriculum that we deliver at Leigh Academy Oaks.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
At Leigh Academy Oaks, we take great pride in the appearance of our pupils and expect all members of our academy to adhere to our uniform standards. You can view our uniform expectations HERE. Please ensure that all uniform is named and checked regularly.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
