Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin 19
15th March 2025
15th March 2025
Dear Parents & Carers,
The sun is finally beginning to make an appearance which has been amazing as on Friday our Boys football team took to the field at Leigh Academy Langley Park to compete in the cluster competition. I was fortunate enough to catch a couple of their games as they beat both Leigh Academy Tree Tops and Leigh Academy Horsmonden 1-0 in each game. I have added some photos from the games to this bulletin.
I would also like to recognise all of the amazing science work that has been happening across the academy this week for 'British Science Week', be sure to ask your child about the science that they have been learning.
I was also particularly humbled by our 'Oaks Bakers' who plucked the courage to enter our internal LAT Baking Competition to select who will represent our academy in the final at Strood Academy. All participants should be immensely proud of their baked biscuits and what they were able to achieve. Below you will see a short write up and find out who will be representing Oaks in the final.
Please also make sure you have read the important information regarding the upcoming parent consultation evenings.
Finally, we have officially relaunched out Pupil Employment Scheme during Friday's assembly and your children in Years 2-6 will no doubt be talking about the potential jobs they wish to apply for. Application forms have been given to classes and the shortlisting/interviews will be happening over the coming weeks. I look forward to the successful pupils embarking on their new professions within the academy next module. If pupils are unsuccessful in gaining a job this time round, their applications will be kept on file and they may be fortunate enough to gain a role for Module 6. To give as many pupils the opportunity to complete a job as possible, we will be looking to expand the available jobs in the future.
Best wishes,
Mr L Coulson
Thank you to the children and families who prepared for the LAT Bake Off competition at Oaks to determine who our academy representative would be.
The panel of Mr Coulson, Mrs Mehigan, Karen and Mr Perkins thoroughly enjoyed tasting all of the biscuits and loved listening to the preparation that went into the bakes and how the pupils came to their final designs.
Well done to Logan in Year 6 who impressed with his white chocolate ganache biscuit sandwiches which were a delight to taste and we look forward to him representing our academy at Leigh Academy Strood on 26th March.
