Leigh Academy Oaks- Principal's Bulletin 17

Dear Parents & Carers,
The final week of this module has been very exciting as we have had a focus on Online Safety across all classes. Sparking a discussion with your child about the Online Safety work they have been doing in class will be a great insight into further supporting your children to navigate safely in this digital age.
We also hosted our annual 'Art Exhibition' in the academy hall. This event drew over 200 visitors who all enjoyed sharing in the artwork of pupils across the academy. Thank you to all of the pupils for creating such wonderful art pieces, the staff of Oaks who supported pupils to produce their work and to Mrs Bennoson for organising the exhibition. A personal favourite of mine was the collaborative art piece of the academy composed by Year 3 and Yr 6. This collaboration will become a permanent feature somewhere in our academy building next module.
I would like to give parents advance notice of two further events happening at Oaks next module, World Book Day (Friday 7th March) and Science Week (starting 10th March). For World Book Day, we are suggesting pupils come into the academy dressed as something to do with a book, this could be their favourite character, a word from the book or even a bookmark! Anything that links with books and reading goes on this day!
We are also excited to be taking part in LAT Bake-Off! More information here.
Lastly, I want to extend my heartfelt thank you to everyone that was able to complete our Parent Survey. It is only with enough comments from parents are we able to truly capture your voice about the academy and your child's learning and development. Over the break I will be going through the feedback from you and will share my responses early in Module 4.
As the module draws to a close, I wish you all a restful break and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 24th February 2025.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.
Best Wishes
Mr L Coulson

Thank you for taking the time to complete the parent survey shared by Leigh Academies Trust.
We value all feedback as an academy and look forward to reading your responses.
Congratulations to Miss Dunn who took part in an epic spinathon last weekend in aid of Mid Kent Mind. She completed this in collaboration with staff at Bower Grove and Lockmeadow Health Club. If you want to make a donation to Mid Kent Mind in support of Miss Dunn's incredible efforts, please do so here.
If you would like to share your child's achievements outside of school with us to recognise and celebrate, please speak to a member of school staff or email the office.
Parents and carers are asked NOT to use their mobile phone whilst on the academy site. Members of staff will politely request you to end calls on the academy site. The use of mobile phones on site also extends to taking photographs and videos.
Make sure you follow us on Facebook to keep informed with updates and photos about what's happening during the school week.
