Each course is designed to take one semester to complete. You will utilize the weekly pacing chart to stay on track to complete your class on time. If you are behind in your class we will meet to set up an intervention plan for you to get back on track and we will contact your parents informing them of this plan.
You are required to take notes on each lesson with either the guided notes template (provided by Edgenuity) for each lesson or e-notes in Edgenuity. The video above will show you how to access the guided notes for each unit. If you need printed copies of the guided notes for your course, please contact your instructor and we will get them to you. You must turn in your notes to be graded before you can take your test. Notes will count as 10% of your final course grade. You may use your notes during quizzes and tests. [You can find links to the notes for some courses HERE]
Tests and the final exam will be required to be taken in the Academic Lab; quizzes are allowed to be taken at home. You will be allowed to take each quiz and test three times. The highest score will be counted. Students may be reassigned the lesson/video for a particular lesson if a student is in jeopardy of not passing the class due to low quiz and test scores.
All writing prompts and essays will be read and graded by the instructor. Do your best! Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Do not write inappropriate content. See Mrs. Lang for help if needed.
Please contact your instructor as soon as you are having problems or have questions. We are available via email, phone, Remind 101 message, and Zoom for scheduled meetings to help you through your course.
Students will need to text @d78a8 to the number 81010 to sign up for Remind 101. This allows us to communicate deadlines with you, you can ask us for retakes, and you can ask us for help. This is the best way to communicate with us outside of school hours. You can contact both Dr. Landry and Mrs. Lang through Remind 101. You can download the app to your phone to receive and send messages, or you can opt to receive text messages.
You will be required to meet with your academic instructor at least once a week at OSTC at a scheduled time to discuss your progress and answer any questions you may have about your course. Days and times for individual progress check meetings will be arranged upon beginning the course for each student at a time that is convenient for both the instructor and student. If you are behind in your course, you will be pulled out of your OSTC CTE course to work on your academic course.
Parents will receive weekly progress reports directly from Edgenuity to the email address provided to OSTC-NE. If you are not receiving these emails, please check your spam folder and email your student's instructor to make sure we have the correct email. Academic Instructors will be emailing/calling parents with concerns regarding student progress as soon as they arise. If you have any questions about your student's course please contact us.
Grade weights can vary slightly by course. You can find the exact percentages on your progress report in Edgenuity. If you have questions about your course's grade weights ask your instructor. Most courses will follow this breakdown:
