Current and former undergraduate and graduate students, Asma Khan, Carl Mendoza and Valerie Hauk had their manuscript "Genomic and physiological analyses reveal that extremely thermophilic Caldicellulosiruptor changbaiensis deploys uncommon cellulose attachment mechanisms" accepted by J Ind Microbiol Biotechnol.

Asma, Carl and Valerie generated and analyzed an updated Caldicellulosiruptor pangenome and identified a uncommon mechanism that C. changbaiensis is using to adhere to cellulose.

Current and former graduate students, Asma Khan and Valerie Hauk released a preprint of their manuscript: "Caldicellulosiruptor bescii regulates pilus expression in response to the polysaccharide, xylan"

Here, Asma and Valerie present their findings on when C. bescii deploys a type IV pilus, and it's role in attachment to cellulose and xylan.

Congratulations to Carl Mendoza on his publication: "Complete Genome Sequence of Caldicellulosiruptor changbaiensis CBS-Z, an Extremely Thermophilic, Cellulolytic Bacterium Isolated from a Hot Spring in China"

Carl used NanoPore technology to sequence C. changbaiensis, the second Caldi genome sequence from China.
