Welcome!

We are a quantum chemistry research group in the Department of Chemistry at Oakland University. We develop theoretical models for heavy-element compounds and apply them to a range of systems, from small molecules to complex pharmaceuticals, materials, and exotic species of the heaviest artificial elements. In particular, we focus on quantifying the effects of the relativistic motion of electrons on chemistry. Our approaches range from established quantum-chemical methods to novel techniques theoretical chemists gratefully adopt from the condensed-matter physics community.
