Woman who is visually impaired, needs helper two times a week for approximately 4 hours each time. As a visually impaired person, she is not able to access services that are provided for the blind and is in need of assitance. These are mostly tasks done online, as she cannot see the computer, although help with the cat would be beneficial. Payment would be $25/hour. Tasks for which she needs assistance include:
Food:
Order groceries online
Pick up groceries on the way to the house, for the following appointment.
Minimal meal prep such as, cooking chicken and cutting fruit and vegetables.
Computer help:
Ordering items on Amazon
Help with returns if necessary.
Filling out forms - for example requesting doctor appointments online and requesting service from the apartment landlord.
Reading through emails.
Cat:
She needs someone to hold the cat while she does some grooming.
Refill food and water.
Calendar:
Read the calendar and remind her of appointments.
She would really like to have someone accompany her on walks outside.
Please call Helen B at 317-847-9256, calling on the phone is better than text as those are hard to read.

The Greening of Detroit is a non-profit organization focused on enhancing the quality of life of Detroiters by planting trees, providing job training, and involving our youth in the education of the natural environment. We involve Detroiters in the process through community engagement, green spaces, education and jobs. You can learn more about us here!
We are reaching out to share volunteer opportunities for your student organization to make a direct impact on Detroit’s environment through planting trees this Spring. Our events are a fun, fulfilling way for your members to get outside, bond, and connect with Detroit communities! Our events are on most Thursday and Saturday mornings from March to May. We are urgently seeking more volunteers for the below dates:
Each date is linked to Eventbrite, where you can complete registration. Please note the special instructions for signing up your group in the Eventbrite descriptions. All volunteers must individually register, even if they are part of a group. To view our full planting schedule, please visit our Events Calendar.
If your team wants to volunteer this season, please register for any date(s) of interest and share the registration link with them. If you need assistance in registering and/or have any questions, please reach out to me!
