POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an effective and positive Social Worker. Must be in alignment with best practices and highly organized with providing services. This individual will need to be collaborative in working with a broad range of service providers and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold Master's degree in Social Work Must hold valid Michigan certification for Social Work
Must hold a SSW-310 Recommendation for Temporary School Social Work approval from a University. Or hold a Full School MDE Certification.
Experience with school-aged individuals Experience with social and/or school counseling
Evidence of working collaboratively and has established and maintained trusting, effective relationships with staff, students and parents.
Strong oral and written communication skills Highly organized and effective with supporting students in varied platforms
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Identify those in need
To write IEPs and goals and objectives for existing IEPs
To effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families
To advocate for and develop plans to improve student’s wellbeing
To respond to students in crisis situations
To interview and counsel students and their families individually; in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities and needs as they pertain to the educational development of the students
To proactively engage parent(s) in examining how the school and home can effectively work together to improve the overall educational success of the student
To utilize assessments to further support students social-emotional well-being
To maintain confidentiality of student, staff and family information
To provide support to students and families relative to students' educational progress, community advocacy and referrals
To participate in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and to engage methodology where necessary
To be engaged while attending building and department meetings
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree or higher.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
