The GEPRAHC invites you to review information about the two First Year Experience models, as well as about the common Academic Success component that would be integrated into either model (both models envision having a separate 1-2 credit course for transfer students that focuses on the academic success component). For each FYE model, we are providing you with a short description of the structure of the FYE, as well as several example syllabi to showcase ideas of what could be done with such courses. We are certain that faculty from across campus will come up with amazing and engaging topics, and encourage you to share your ideas with the committee and to think of how your department or unit could get involved with teaching an FYE.
Each section is built around a central driving question and includes at least two experiential learning activities. It includes a final team-based assignment that students present at the end-of-semester FYE Showcase.
