HIGHER LEVEL MATHEMATICS TASKS:
In this task, if you click on the link to the left it will take you to a website for you to practice fraction word problems where you will be adding or subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. After you submit your answer, the website will let you know right away if you were correct or incorrect. If you are incorrect, the resource will give you an explanation and describe how to properly solve that specific problem.
With this high level thinking task, you are going to look at a data table, and answer word problems based off of the values in the table. There are only two problems here to practice! The first problem will use the data table right above it (there are only three values to look at). The second problem will use the second data table provided, right above it (this table has five values). This will be a short but challenging practice to interpret what the question is asking, and then finding the fractional amount it is asking.
After trying both problems, the answers are here.
Adding & Subtracting Unlike Denominators:
With this task, you are going to practice your skills of being able to determine either the greatest common factor or least common multiple. You also have the option to practice reading through a word problem to find the sum or difference. Please click on the photo on the left to take you to the task.
Adding & Subtracting Unlike Denominators:
With this task, you will practice your ability to add and subtract fractions that have unlike denominators. Questions you will be asked include identifying the equality as well as finding the least common denominator. Please click on the photo above to take you to the task.
