About us: The Connected Systems Laboratory (CSL) is an interdisciplinary academic and research center within the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Oakland University and directed by Dr. Nasim Nezamoddini. The main focus of CSL research group is data-driven optimization for large-scale complex networked systems. CSL fosters collaboration between students, research staff and faculty conducting fundamental and applied research in modeling and controlling networked systems. We encompass a broad range of areas concerning adaptive network systems, including collaborative supply chains, smart grid, and smart manufacturing with an emphasis on real‑time data processing, digital‑twin–enabled decision support, and coordination across heterogeneous cyber‑physical systems. We study these challenges using data science, network science, machine learning, stochastic and robust optimization, adaptive control, and multi‑agent optimization, with growing efforts in AI‑enabled interoperability and safe coordination in next‑generation manufacturing systems.
