Anthropology Club History:
The Anthropology Club at Oakland University has been around since 1979. Originally named the OU Society for Archaeology and Anthropology, many different sorts of club events were created and lost to time. The current members of Anthropology Club are passionate about showcasing the history of our foundation and ensuring the legacy of our club lasts for many future generations of OU students to come. Dr. Stamps served as the original advisor, and has long been dedicated to creating hands-on opportunities for passionate people to engage with all different subfields of Anthropology. Even in his retirement, Dr. Stamps still showcases his dedication by working on the Anthropology Club Archive for the Oakland University Library. Event Types & Frequency:
Anthropology club is proud to host a variety of different events for club members, and aim for two events monthly (except for the month with the semester break, and the summer semesters). We have two different event types we host, and aim for one of each every month. Our first event type is Anthropological and its purpose is to strengthen members' knowledge of the field as well as provide opportunities for hands-on experience. Our second event type is Peer-Connections, which is aimed at fostering the interconnection between club members to provide a support structure that will benefit them during and after their time here at OU.
