Outstanding Award

SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) awarded a 2022-2023 Outstanding Chapter Award designation to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student members.

 

The SHRM Student Chapter Merit Award program encourages the development of more effective student chapters and distinguishes outstanding activities and projects. Chapters are recognized based on operations, chapter programming and professional development of members, support of the human resource profession, and SHRM engagement.

SHRM student chapters have the opportunity to earn an award based on the number of activities they complete during the merit award cycle, the most recent one of which lasted from May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023. 


Superior Merit Award

SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) awarded a 2020-2021  Superior Merit Award designation to the New York University SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student members. 


“The members of our SHRM student chapters represent the next generation of HR leaders, and it’s critical to highlight the instrumental role they play in SHRM’s success,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM President and CEO. “The hard work of TechSHRM shows the future of the profession is, indeed, in good hands. I applaud their accomplishments and ability to foster innovative programming, development, and interest in HR as we navigate

changing workplaces.”

SHRM Foundation Chapter Advisor Impact Award

Recognizing that SHRM student chapter advisors are uniquely positioned to inspire, shape and guide the next generation, the SHRM Foundation Student Chapter Advisor Impact Award will honor a deserving SHRM student chapter advisor who has made a positive impact in the life of one or more student members. NYU SHRM Sherman Award

The University Relations Special Interest Group coordinates the annual awarding of the NYC SHRM Sherman Award to a deserving student of HR Management.   

The award honors the memory of Harry Sherman, the first President of our chapter and a major supporter of Human Resources education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The award recognizes a student for their outstanding work within both their local student chapter and NYC-SHRM.

In February of each year, Student Chapter Faculty Advisors will be contacted and provided with the criteria for the nomination and selection process in order to ensure we receive all nominations for consideration by April 15th.  

The winner will be announced in May and invited to the Annual Chapter Meeting & Breakfast in June to receive a check of $1,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation.  The winner and their accomplishments will be highlighted in the NYC-SHRM Blog.
