SURE is a pilot program designed to introduce first-year Undergraduate Steinhardt students to faculty-led research. This initiative, a collaboration between Steinhardt's Office of Academic Affairs and NYU's Center for Undergraduate Research, aims to provide a high-impact, hands-on experience for students who are new to research.

Key Program Details
🙋 Student Participants: first-year Steinhardt students (from Spring/Fall 2025 cohorts).
🧑🏫 Faculty Mentors: Steinhardt faculty with existing or new research projects.
🕓 Student Commitment: 5 hours per week for two semesters (Spring 2026 and beyond).
💰 Student Pay: $17/hour, fully funded by the program.
🎉 Faculty Cost: None. The program covers all costs.

Focus on First-Year Students: Specifically designed to provide a mentored research experience for novice researchers early in their NYU Steinhardt careers.
Comprehensive Support: Includes a year-long series of workshops and community-building events to prepare students for research and help them feel a sense of belonging.
Fully Funded: All student salaries are covered by the program at no cost to the faculty mentor.
*If you have Federal Work-Study, this can be a FWS job; but you do not need FWS.

All SURE Fellows are invited to participate in a year-long workshop series designed to demystify the research process and build foundational academic skills. Throughout the year, we invite distinguished faculty and professionals from across Steinhardt and the wider NYU community to share their expertise. These sessions provide Fellows with practical insights into various research methodologies, bridging the gap between theory and application, and empowering students to shape their academic identities beyond their first year at NYU.
