In Summer 2021 in Dr. Nisha Sajnani's Arts Based Research course, I presented an outlined proposal for my pilot study "Hidden Talent." We had a discussion about initial thoughts surrounding my culminating project involving rural high school theatre programs and the development of an intentionally anti-racist pedagogical framework for these programs. I discussed how documentary theatre and verbatim performance can be used as an arts-based method in order to learn directly from the people working and interacting with these rural communities, and to allow that data to directly speak to the needs within those communities.
