Whether you're looking to make your voice heard, meet people, or build leadership experience, SPS student government is here to help you connect. The Council is both a platform for student advocacy and a launchpad for real-world leadership.
At NYU SPS, student governance is split between two distinct councils. The Undergraduate (USC) and Graduate (GSC) Student Councils are the official representative bodies for NYU SPS students, each serving their respective student communities with parallel structures and shared goals. They also work together on school-wide events while also managing its initiatives and clubs.
The councils operate under the SPS Student Government, which is part of the larger NYU Student Government Assembly (SGA). Together, these groups represent student interests at every level — from classrooms to the university senate.
Elected officers on the Executive Board include the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Senator. These leaders guide their respective Council’s direction and work with appointed members to bring student ideas to life.
To accomplish its goals, the Councils appoints student leaders to specialized roles and committees.
