My research interests and expertise focus on the following areas:
Traffic engineering (TE) and routing.
Network optimization algorithms.
Software-defined networking (SDN).
Machine learning (ML) for networking.
Networking for accelerating distributed ML.
Data center and cloud computing.
Content delivery network (CDN).
Since 2019, I have been leveraging ML techniques for designing intelligent TE solutions, aiming to:
Improve network load balancing performance under dynamic traffic scenarios.
Achieve good QoS provisioning with intelligent routing decisions.
Reduce network disturbance and routing update overhead caused by TE.
Accelerate TE operations in large-scale networks to achieve good scalability.
Deploy robust routing strategies that are resilient to unexpected link failures.
I have been working with Prof. H. Jonathan Chao and a group of talented MS students at the NYU High-Speed Networking Lab (HSNL).
Most of my machine learning + traffic engineering research projects were completed in collaboration with Prof. Chao and two HSNL alumni: Dr. Junjie Zhang (Fortinet) and Prof. Zehua Guo (BIT).
