My group made up their project name on the spot based on the fact it was really simple. It was called "Handcuffs". It was based on the first topic, which was Digital addiction in a futuristic Shanghai. Shanghai is more modern than the US technologically, so I wanted to go with something simple. I mainly provided an idea for my group to work on: Handcuffs that will connect and disconnect based on if you are using technology or not. It was designed to be set in a dystopian world where connection was seldom.
making the phone
making the phone button
cutting out the phone button
making the handcuffs
Since our own phones weren't able to be used, we crafted two out of cardboard. One person would represent/act as a phone, while the other would be the person cuffed to it. We wanted it to both literally and metaphorically symbolize a connection to one's cellphones. This form of technology was rather simple in its design and didn't have much complexity. We focused on one keypoint as an interaction and a moment in time rather than a story. I believe if more time was given, it could've made a longer script.
The project with the friendship glasses is the one I wish to analyze. I believe they completed the assignment well in terms of guidelines, however, I believe they failed to integrate how common their object may be found in a store. If they did, the one who had all their information leaked might not have been so trusting with the one wearing the glasses. I do feel like procrastination between communicating with other members could've been improved upon in my group.
