Reflection
This week, we created a very interesting project showcasing the importance of design considering the future. We received instructions to think ahead to the future.
"As people increasingly rely on digital interactions and virtual experiences, face-to-face communication and real-world relationships are suffering."
Our product is a dining table with phone detection. Phones are one of the biggest distractions for us, and we want to make sure we create something to reduce screen time. The family dining table is also where communication occurs, so this product basically forces everyone in the family to focus and will "punish" them if they pick up their phone.
I think this showcase clearly detailed the interaction of the artifact. I would say this project is not fully functional in reality, but it gives the audience an understanding of what we want to convey. If I had the chance to redo this project, I would try to write a more detailed draft before executing it because it will avoid confusion while we execute.
As a part of the team, I engaged in every way. We all helped each other all the way from ideation to finishing building the prototype. There were some issues along the way, such as sizing the cardboard for the first time, but we figured it out pretty quickly. We don't use much allocation because it is a fast and small project. We just focus on working together and seek for help when needed. The communication inside the group was perfect. Everyone engage and make impactful contributions. I believe the best part of this project is that we combined many ideas and brought the best out of it.
Group Feedback
For me, the best thing about this group is that they showcase a very relatable scenario to teenagers. I think they could improve by adding some more creative scenarios, but so far, the performance is very heartfelt and understandable. I believe this is a very big problem and will continue to occur over the next 100 years. This problem is significant and requires someone to take action. This is a great start for an important invention and a step towards finding social and mental health solutions for the future.

For this group, I like the fact that they are very creative. They put the AC in the machine and make people engage more, either through playing the games or the photo booth. I like the performance, and it also meets the criteria because they create a photobooth and singing function to engage. I like the fact that someone asked if it really works in the Chinese culture because the culture we have in the Chinese society are sometimes isolated. One of the group members did a great job by replying 'we never know if we don't try'. If there were anything to improve, I think they could show it in a scenario with a lot of people to showcase a more realistic scenarion.

The performance of this group is very impressive. I like the fact that they use the concept of a TV show to present. I believe this project aligns well with the criteria because it resonates with future trends and introduces technology we don’t typically anticipate. The group also mentioned a scenario where the devices are destroy which is a great point. To improve, they could explain more clearly how the product works and focus on one aspect at a time."
