The NYU Hypercinema Lab is a cross disciplinary research lab between ITP/IMA and the TISCH Film department focused on experiments in new forms of storytelling through generative, synthetic and interactive media.
The lab is open to all NYU students and will host events, workshops and screenings of new work in the realm of Hypercinema.
The Hypercinema Lab will also host rotating researchers who will conduct independent research projects and share their research with the larger NYU community.
The goal of the lab is not to replace or diminish human creativity, but rather conduct research into how technology continues to change and evolve the way we tell stories. The lab also looks critically at generative media's tendencies to misinform and divide us.
