The Future of Information Literacy: AI and Library Instruction

Call For Presentations

The call for presentations for the virtual one-day symposium The Future of Information Literacy: AI and Library Instruction is now open!

The event will take place on November 2, 2024 from 1-5PM GST.

The deadline for submissions is August 2, 2024.

Symposium registration, information, and scheduling will go live in September 2024.

Description:

The role of the Library constantly evolves and changes along with changing information needs. The growth and development of artificial intelligence tools have introduced unique and varied ways with which to interact with information, process information, collect information, and conduct research. These developments have also greatly changed the scope of Library instruction and information literacy needs.

The Future of Information Literacy: AI and Library Instruction is intended as a space where Library professionals can discuss the impact of recent developments in AI and related technologies on their work, on their instruction, and on the needs of their users.

We are especially interested in submissions on the following themes:

Instruction and Learning

Privacy and Data

AI Tools

Outreach and Professional Development

Guidelines:

Each presentation should be limited to 5-7 minutes, and we ask for only one submission per person. Joint submissions are welcome.

All librarians, library assistants, technical service staff, access service staff, administrative staff, and other library professionals who provide instruction in any capacity in school, special, academic, public, archival and other libraries are welcome to submit.
