Carter Jones is a third-year Cinema Studies student at NYU. He is also pursuing minors in Business of Entertainment and Media Technologies, Producing, and Film and TV Production. Mr. Jones was born and raised in Columbia, Maryland, an unincorporated community in between Baltimore and Washington DC founded by Edward Norton's grandfather. He grew up playing sports and acting in musical theater, but gave that up to pursue a career in the film and tv industry. To this day, people cannot stop asking him if he plays basketball. No he doesn't play basketball just because he is tall. Mr. Jones is a passionate individual who loves writing and watching movies and TV.
As is customary for those growing up in the Baltimore area, Carter Jones' favorite show is The Wire. He also loves the A24 film Waves(2019, Shults) and cries every time he watches it. Mr. Jones would lie if you asked him this, but the media he consumes the most on a day to day basis is TikTok. He is quite fond of rotting in bed watching TikTok or rewatching a sitcom he has seen a million times. Mr. Jones' skills don't stop there however. Before he decided to pursue film, he wanted to pursue computer science, and still retains much of his knowledge about coding in java, python, and c++. He has worked as a production assistant on several sets over the course of his time at NYU and is comfortable working with a wide variety of film equipment. As previously mentioned, Mr. Jones is a writer who has written short stories, pilots, comedy sketches, and video games. Reputable sources have continuously mentioned that Carter Jones is also an incredible chef. He is excited to take this class, as he feels that interactive cinema has been a historically under represented and under appreciated medium of art. Mr. Jones is also very excited how hands on the class seems to be from the different projects and extracurricular activities listed on the website.
