Data gathering process prior to assessment.

Developmental Profile

Information Included:

  • -Developmental history (across 5 domains of development)

    • cognitive and memory,

    • oral language,

    • sensory and motor,

    • social emotional, and

    • attention and executive function

      • *If any two of these are not within expectations, get ready to evaluate.

  • -Medical history

  • -Co-morbidity or relevant factors (neurogenetic disorders, disease, substance abuse, and other familial factors)

  • -History of family with disabilities in speech, language, or related cognitive/learning areas, slow in L2 learning at the same time as rapid L1 loss.

  • -Parental concerns

Information Included:

  • Educational history

  • Languages of schooling

  • Type of educational program – bilingual, transitional, two-way, ESOL services, immersion

  • Classroom factors (inclusion, pullout), pedagogical approaches in the classroom - are culturally responsive sustainable practices being used?

  • Teacher concerns

  • Language and literacy work samples

  • Prior Individualized Education Plan or 504 plan
