Having high quality content is imperative to success as an artist or an arts organization.
Professional video and audio content have culminated in successful artistic endeveurs such as NPR’s Tiny Desk, SOFAR Sounds, and Audiotree. These YouTube channels contain millions of subscribers and views. Though this concept is already being repeated, there has never been a video series like this connected to an institution like New York University.
I have created the pilot video in a series titled, "Arch Sessions." These performances will showcase student collaboration across different educational areas at NYU.
This pilot performance contains a song co-written by a songwriting undergraduate student and a jazz performance graduate student. This entire project was completed through diverse collaboration on a singular creative goal. The departments that were involved in this collaboration contain students, alumni, and staff from the jazz performance, songwriting, and music technology departments. This live performance was recorded in the James Dolan Recording Studio located in NYU Steinhardt.
This series is mutually beneficial for students, staff, administration, and alumni. If funded and regularly produced, this project can be used as a symbol of pride and celebration for the university, showcasing and investing in their students' innovation, leadership, and creativity.
This series can give students that feel underrepresented in their program an opportunity to collaborate with a diverse collective of rising artists. This series can be produced in multiple locations, displaying various renowned facilities at NYU.
Though this project is set-up as a Steinhardt collaboration, Arch Sessions can grow to include other facets of the university including music, dance, visual art, drama, and much more.
