Hi, my name is Angie Mohamed, and I'm a senior at New York University Tandon School of Engineering this year! I'm from Staten Island, NYC, but I've loved life on Jay St, feels just like home. I study mechanical engineering and I am interested in product design, data science, and AI.
I consider myself a humanitarian first, an engineer second (food lover third). I plan on pursuing both options of industry and academia post-graduation, continuing to strive for more knowledge and hands-on experience in product design and engineering management.
I want to work on developing sustainable, impactful technologies. I have multiple research experiences (UGSRP & MAE Fellowship) I have been lucky to be a part of, but I’ve fallen for the prototyping and development side of engineering after partaking in NYU Tandon’s Makerspace Prototyping Fund. I’ve gone on to do an internship with FLAMAID in Barcelona, Spain working as their Engineering Consultant where I had the freedom to truly take a product and innovate.
I also worked as Teacher Assistant for the Design, Invent, Innovate (DII) K-12 STEM program. At the end of the program some of the students came up to tell me they were strongly considering pursuing mechanical engineering and thanked me for my help and guidance. Inspiring others and fueling the young minds of future engineers, while also being one myself is my one of my greatest joy. I am honored to be a part of this community, as well as others.
I am a part of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Everyday Assistive Technology VIP, and the MLK Honors Program here at NYU. When I’m not at Tandon you’ll probably find me at a bookstore, drinking coffee and people watching!
I am from Staten Island, NYC and am always on the move. I love to talk, so please feel free to contact me at aim9103@nyu.edu !!
